Effective date: 29 October 2026.
Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (Terms and Conditions) apply to our website and to agreed services supplied by TT&C Translation Services Limited, trading as TTC Translation Services and The Translation Company (“TTC”, “we”, “us”, “our”). They are intended for all language pairs and service pages, not a particular advertising campaign.
Requesting a quotation, sending a document for assessment or reading these Terms does not by itself create a paid order, grant marketing consent or waive cancellation rights. An order is formed as described in section 5. Nothing in these Terms reduces any mandatory consumer or data-protection right. A specifically agreed, lawful term or a more favourable offer made part of your order takes precedence over an inconsistent general provision.

2. Definitions
Customer means the person or organisation requesting or purchasing the service. A consumer is an individual acting wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession. A business customer is a customer acting for business or professional purposes.
Services means the translation, certified translation, interpreting, transcription, localisation, proofreading, revision, certification, notarisation support, apostille support, legalisation support, postage or other related service we agree to provide. Documents includes files, scans, photographs, original documents, text and instructions supplied to us. Deliverables means the translated documents, certified translations, digital files, printed copies or other agreed work.
Order means an agreed service accepted under section 5. A durable medium is a way of retaining information addressed to you so that it remains accessible and can be reproduced unchanged, for example an email or a document you can save. A link to an editable webpage alone is not a substitute for providing the required contract confirmation.
3. Our services
We provide professional language services, including translation and certified translation for legal, immigration, academic, business and personal use; revision and proofreading; interpreting; transcription; localisation; and notarisation, apostille or legalisation support where agreed.
The language pair, scope, certification, deliverables, delivery method, completion time and total price will be confirmed before you become bound by the order. We must provide the agreed service with the skill, care and conformity required by applicable law and the standards we claim to meet.
Where a certificate, registration or professional status is stated, it applies to the entity or service identified. It is not automatically a statement that every individual translator has that status or that every overseas authority will accept the same certification.
Interpreting bookings
For interpreting bookings, we confirm the language or dialect, appointment date and time, location or remote platform, booked duration and applicable charges before acceptance. Please provide relevant preparation materials and notify us promptly of changes. Any minimum booking, travel, waiting-time, overtime or cancellation charges must be stated in the booking confirmation. Cancellation charges must be fair, reflect relevant unrecoverable costs or losses, and account for costs saved or replacement work obtained. Nothing in these arrangements limits applicable consumer cancellation rights or remedies.
4. Quotes
Quotes are based on the materials and instructions supplied. Relevant factors may include language pair, word or page count, document type, legibility, formatting, certification, urgency and any agreed additional services.
Unless stated otherwise, a quote is valid for seven calendar days. We may need to revise it if the materials or requested service change. After an order is agreed, additional work or a price increase requires your agreement; we do not impose an undisclosed revised price after you are bound.
Where an advertised starting rate is relevant, the qualifying basis and complete order price will be explained in the quotation. A starting rate is not a fixed total for every document or service.
5. Orders and contract formation
An order is accepted when we have confirmed the service and price, you have expressly confirmed that you wish to proceed, and any requirements for advance payment, documents and essential instructions have been satisfied. We identify any different formation arrangements clearly before agreement.
For a consumer distance contract, we provide the required order information and contract confirmation on a durable medium within the applicable time and before starting the service. The early-start process in section 13 is separate from asking for a quotation.
Before acceptance, we may decline a request that is unlawful, misleading, abusive, outside our scope, insufficiently clear or impossible to meet. After acceptance, we may pause or end an order only on a lawful and proportionate basis, explaining the reason and the effect on payment, work and delivery. We will seek clarification or a reasonable solution where appropriate.
If we cancel without supplying the agreed service, we refund sums due under the contract and applicable law. We do not require a consumer to pay for a service not supplied or exclude remedies for our own failure.
6. Customer responsibilities
Please provide clear, complete documents; accurate instructions; the correct target language; the intended use; required certification; any essential deadline or receiving-authority instructions; and supporting records for the spelling or transliteration of names where necessary.
You must have authority to provide documents relating to other people. Tell us promptly if your materials or requirements change.
You are responsible for consequences caused by inaccurate or incomplete materials or instructions to the extent properly attributable to you. This does not excuse errors we cause, remove our duty to exercise reasonable skill and care, or override a purpose or requirement we have expressly accepted.
7. Name spellings and official documents
Names in a certified translation may need an evidenced spelling or transliteration matching a passport or another official record. Tell us before work begins and provide the relevant evidence where needed.
We cannot change substantive source facts to match a preferred result. A discrepancy may need a translator’s note or correction of the original by its issuer. Additional work arising solely from new customer instructions may be chargeable where agreed; correction of our own error is not treated as a new paid service.
8. Certified translations and professional discretion
TTC’s certified translations are supplied with a copy of the source document and a certificate of accuracy containing the date, document reference, relevant signature or signatures, and TTC’s identification and contact details. We prepare the translation and certification to meet the requirements of the receiving authority or institution for the purpose agreed with you, including immigration, court and university submissions.
Please provide any specific recipient instructions before work begins. TTC remains responsible for the service and requirements it has agreed to fulfil. Certification confirms the accuracy of the translation against the source document supplied; it does not independently authenticate the source document or determine an authority’s decision on the underlying application.
Certified translations must accurately reflect the source. We may refuse a requested alteration that would make a translation inaccurate, misleading or inconsistent with the source.
Refusal to falsify or misrepresent a document does not by itself establish a fault in the service. It also does not remove any applicable cancellation, refund or other statutory right. If we cannot lawfully complete the agreed service, we explain the position and any appropriate next steps.
9. Prices and payment
The total price and payment arrangements are confirmed in the quotation or order confirmation. Consumer prices include applicable taxes and unavoidable charges. If the total cannot reasonably be calculated in advance, we explain the calculation method and any additional charges before agreement. Business-only quotes may identify taxes separately where lawful and clear.
Unless otherwise agreed, payment is required before work begins. For our certified translation service, the digital PDF and a printed copy are included. Postage, courier delivery, extra copies, notarisation, apostille, legalisation and other separately requested services may carry additional charges, which must be disclosed and agreed in advance. The included printed copy is not a promise of free postage.
Urgent work and additional work requested by the customer are quoted as appropriate to the order. We do not impose an undisclosed surcharge. Any payment-method charge must be lawful and disclosed; these Terms do not authorise a prohibited card or payment surcharge.
Subject to a consumer’s lawful right to withhold payment, we may pause work or withhold delivery while an agreed amount properly due remains unpaid.
10. Urgent, same-day, next-day and 24-hour services
Urgent availability, the total price, any cut-off and the completion deadline must be agreed before the order is accepted. Availability depends on the language pair, length, clarity, payment time, resources and certification requirements.
Same-day, next-day and 24-hour descriptions are not interchangeable. We confirm the specific date or time, when the period starts and the delivery milestone to which it applies. A PDF completion deadline does not include postal or courier transit unless we expressly agree otherwise.
If essential materials, payment or instructions arrive after an agreed cut-off, we explain any effect on the deadline and agree the appropriate next step. This does not permit us to disregard an essential deadline already agreed with a consumer.
11. Turnaround times
The agreed work period begins when the necessary documents, payment where required and instructions have been received and we have accepted the order, unless a different starting point is agreed.
We must meet an agreed performance deadline. If no time has been agreed, we provide the service within a reasonable time. Any estimate will be identified as an estimate; calling a time an estimate does not displace an essential deadline or mandatory rights.
If a delay occurs, we tell you about its cause and the proposed resolution. Your rights where we fail to supply on time, including where timing was essential, remain unaffected.
12. Delivery
Delivery may be by email, a secure link, WhatsApp, collection, post or courier as agreed. The included digital PDF and printed copy for a certified translation, and any separate postage or additional-copy arrangements, are confirmed with your order.
We send or make the agreed deliverable accessible through the confirmed channel. A failed transmission or inaccessible file is not treated as successful delivery merely because a send attempt was made; please notify us so that we can resolve it.
Postal and courier transit is separate from translation completion. Any delivery charge is agreed in advance. The involvement of a carrier does not remove responsibilities imposed on TTC by law.
Please check the deliverable promptly and tell us about a problem. Prompt notification helps us assist you but does not shorten statutory rights.
13. Consumer cancellation rights and early commencement
A consumer who concludes a qualifying service contract at a distance, including online, by telephone, email or WhatsApp, normally has 14 days from conclusion of the contract to cancel without giving a reason. A statutory 30-day period applies in the relevant unsolicited-home-visit or organised-excursion circumstances. A longer period may apply if required cancellation information was not supplied.
If you wish us to start during the applicable cancellation period, we require a separate express request on a durable medium and ask you to acknowledge that the cancellation right is lost once the service is fully performed. An urgent deadline, acceptance of general Terms or a quotation request alone is not substituted for that record.
If you cancel before full performance, a proportionate charge for work supplied up to cancellation may be payable only where the legal requirements, including the required information and early-start request, have been met. We explain the calculation. If the relevant legal conditions for charging are not met, you do not have to pay that charge.
The right to cancel is lost after full performance only where the required prior express consent and acknowledgement were obtained. A commissioned translation is not automatically outside the service cancellation rules merely because it is customised. Supplying a translation as a PDF is not used to remove service rights by labelling it digital content.
Where a genuinely separate goods, digital-content or other contract has different statutory rules, we identify those rules before agreement. These Terms do not create a universal exemption for all personalised services.
14. How to cancel and optional cancellation form
To exercise an applicable cancellation right, send a clear statement before the period expires to [email protected], or contact us at the postal address or telephone number in section 1. Email or another durable record is recommended so that the communication can be evidenced. You do not have to use the wording below, give a reason, or know an order reference.
Optional cancellation notice
To: TT&C Translation Services Limited, 2nd Floor, 5-7 Upper O’Connell Street, Prosperity Chambers, Dublin 1, D01 P5P5, Ireland; [email protected].
I give notice that I cancel my contract for the following service:
Service and order reference, if known:
Date ordered:
Consumer name:
Consumer address:
Contact email or telephone, optional:
Date:
Signature, only if this notice is sent on paper:
Sending the cancellation communication before the applicable period expires is sufficient; you do not have to wait for TTC’s acknowledgement.
Orders concluded through an online interface. Where the applicable online-cancellation rules apply to your order, you must also be able to cancel through a prominently displayed, readily accessible online function throughout the cancellation period. This is an additional route, not a replacement for cancellation by a clear statement. The function must let you identify yourself and the order, confirm the cancellation and specify an electronic means for acknowledgement. Receipt must be acknowledged on a durable medium without undue delay, including the statement and its submission date and time. The existence and location of the applicable function must be explained before the order is concluded.
15. Refunds and statutory remedies
Different rules can apply to cancellation without fault, failure to supply and a service that does not conform to the contract. We assess the relevant right rather than applying a single no-refund rule.
Where a consumer exercises a valid cancellation right, we reimburse sums due without undue delay and within the statutory period, normally 14 days from being informed of cancellation, subject to any lawful proportionate charge described in section 13. We use the same payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise and incur no fee.
If the service does not conform to the contract, the applicable remedies may include bringing it into conformity without charge, within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, a proportionate price reduction, or termination where the legal conditions are met. A serious problem or other statutory ground can justify termination without first accepting repeated correction attempts.
Completion and delivery do not create a blanket no-refund rule for a faulty service. Where statutory price-reduction or termination rights require reimbursement, the applicable legal time limit and payment protections apply.
Where no statutory cancellation right applies, including to business orders, we assess cancellation against the terms agreed before the order and the work actually performed. We explain any applicable charge and do not impose an undisclosed penalty. Nothing here limits a mandatory remedy.
16. Revisions and corrections
Tell us promptly and with clear details if you believe there is an error. Where a correction is our responsibility, it is made without additional charge, within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience as required by law.
New documents, additional text, changed instructions, new unsupported spelling preferences or another customer-requested expansion of the agreed work may need a separate quote. We distinguish these from faults in the service we were responsible for providing.
We ask that routine correction requests be raised within 30 days where practicable so that issues can be handled promptly. This is an administrative request, not a contractual expiry of statutory rights or a bar to raising a later fault.
Where we send you a draft for review, please check names, dates and any terminology you asked us to use before finalisation. Your review does not replace TTC’s quality checks, make you responsible for errors attributable to TTC, or limit your statutory rights.
17. Acceptance by receiving authorities
We prepare the certification and translation agreed with you using the required professional skill and care. Authorities, embassies, courts, universities, employers and other recipients can impose different certification or presentation requirements.
Tell us the intended recipient and any specific requirements before ordering. We remain responsible for requirements or purposes that we have agreed to meet and for our own errors. We do not guarantee a visa, immigration, academic, court or other decision outside our control.
If a recipient raises a translation or certification issue attributable to us, we investigate and provide an appropriate correction, reissue or other remedy. A free correction is not your exclusive remedy where the law provides another.
We explain the effect of requirements not disclosed to us, later rule changes, inaccurate source material or a different requested service level. Those matters do not automatically exempt TTC from an obligation we had accepted or a statutory duty.
Our language and administrative support services are not a substitute for immigration, legal, tax or other regulated professional advice.
18. Best Price Guarantee
Where we advertise the Best Price Guarantee, we will beat a genuine lower like-for-like written quote from another Irish translation agency by 10%, subject to the comparison requirements explained here.
The comparison must concern the same documents, language pair, certification, turnaround, delivery and additional services, using a consistent tax and total-price basis. Please provide the current and verifiable competing quote before placing the order so we can confirm the comparison.
The guarantee does not cover expired, unverifiable, overseas or non-comparable quotations, or machine-translation-only or informal offers that are not equivalent to the professional service quoted. For bundled or promotional quotes, the equivalent service and its applicable price must be identifiable and verifiable; we do not treat a different scope as a lower like-for-like quote.
We explain a decision that a quote is not comparable. The guarantee does not change your statutory rights or override any more favourable comparison promise expressly made part of your order.
19. Confidentiality
We treat customer documents and communications as confidential. Access is limited to people and providers who need the relevant information to supply or administer the agreed service, subject to appropriate duties.
Only necessary information is shared for each purpose. For example, payment administration or postage does not ordinarily require disclosure of the full translation document. We may disclose information where lawfully required, applying relevant safeguards.
Please tell us before sending documents if your organisation requires a particular confidentiality agreement or data-handling arrangement. We will assess those requirements before accepting the work.
20. Subcontractors and translators
We may use employees, freelance translators, revisers, proofreaders, project managers, notaries, legalisation specialists, carriers or other providers. We remain responsible for our obligations under the contract and applicable law, including when we subcontract work we agreed to provide.
If you are to contract directly with an independent third party for a separate service, that arrangement and its price and responsibility are explained before agreement.
21. Data protection
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled. Providing a document or entering a service contract is not a blanket consent to marketing, optional tracking or every use of third-party data.
You must have authority to transmit documents concerning others. TTC separately remains responsible for its applicable controller or processor duties, legal bases, sensitive-data conditions and transfer safeguards.
22. Intellectual property
You retain ownership of your original materials. Once the agreed price is paid, you may use the completed deliverable for the purposes agreed for the service. Any different intellectual-property or licensing arrangement must be expressly agreed.
TTC retains rights in its pre-existing templates, certification format, methods, branding and website materials. Those rights do not prevent ordinary lawful use of the deliverable, exercise of statutory rights or disclosure needed to seek advice or resolve a complaint.
23. Website use
Do not submit unlawful, fraudulent or deliberately misleading material; upload malware; attempt unauthorised access; harass staff or others; misuse protected content; or interfere with security and performance.
We may take lawful and proportionate steps to restrict misuse. This does not remove obligations owed under an existing lawful order.
24. Website availability
We aim to keep the website available and secure, but cannot promise that every website feature will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may maintain or update website features.
An unavailable form or website does not remove our obligations concerning an accepted order. The contact details in section 1 provide alternative ways to reach us.
25. Liability
Nothing excludes or limits liability where this would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Consumers: mandatory consumer remedies and applicable rights to compensation remain unaffected. We do not apply the business liability cap below to consumers, nor exclude liability merely because a problem concerns a translation used in an application or official process.
Business customers only: unless otherwise agreed, and subject to liability that cannot lawfully be restricted, the total liability for the specific service giving rise to a claim is limited to the amount paid for that service. Subject to the same qualifications, liability for indirect or consequential business losses, loss of profit, business, opportunity or goodwill is excluded.
We are not the decision-maker for an authority or other recipient. That fact does not excuse our failure to deliver the agreed professional service. Any disputed limitation remains subject to applicable law and the relevant court’s assessment.
26. Events outside reasonable control
An event genuinely outside our reasonable control may affect performance. We must take reasonable steps to reduce its impact, tell you about material delay and discuss an appropriate alternative or resolution.
A supplier problem, illness, technical failure or cyber incident is not automatically outside our reasonable control. This provision does not require a consumer to pay for services not supplied, excuse avoidable lack of care, or remove statutory rights to cancel, terminate or obtain a refund.
27. Complaints
Contact [email protected] or the address in section 1. Include your name, the service or order reference if available, the issue, any receiving-authority feedback and any relevant deadline. We review the matter and respond without undue delay.
This complaint procedure does not prevent you from exercising legal rights, seeking advice, contacting a regulator or using a competent court. If a particular alternative dispute-resolution scheme applies, we provide the required information.
28. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms for future orders. The approved version and its date will be available on our website. The version agreed when your order was formed applies to that order unless a lawful change is expressly agreed or required by law. A later website update does not automatically alter an existing order.
We retain or provide the relevant order confirmation on a durable medium as required.
29. Governing law and jurisdiction
Irish law governs these Terms. A consumer retains the protection of mandatory laws applicable in their country of habitual residence where those laws apply.
Business disputes are subject to the Irish courts unless otherwise lawfully agreed. A consumer may use any court available under mandatory jurisdiction rules; these Terms do not require a consumer to bring proceedings exclusively where TTC is based.
