Know the Difference
Learn the difference between simple, certified, sworn, notarised and apostille translation before submitting documents for immigration, CAO, NARIC Ireland, university applications, courts, solicitors or embassies in Ireland, so you choose the right service first time and avoid delays.
LEVEL 1
A plain text translation from one language into another, without a signed accuracy statement, translator details or official certification. Suitable for informal personal reference only.
MOST COMMON
LEVEL 2
An accurate translation issued with a signed Certificate of Accuracy confirming the translation is true and complete. It should include translator details, signature, occupation, address and date for official submission.
LEVEL 2B
A written declaration by the translator — sometimes called a “statement of accuracy” — confirming the translation is a faithful representation of the original document. This is the core element that makes a translation “certified” under Irish official guidance.
LEVEL 3
A translation produced by a translator who is officially sworn in (“oath-bound”) before a court or government authority in the country of origin. Sworn translators are legally recognised in countries like Spain, France, Germany, and Poland — but Ireland does not operate a formal sworn translator register.
LEVEL 4
An additional step where a Notary Public authenticates the translator’s signature and identity — confirming the person who signed the translation is who they claim to be. Notarisation does not validate the accuracy of the translation itself, only the authenticity of the signature.
LEVEL 5
An Apostille is an official government certificate issued under the 1961 Hague Convention that authenticates the origin of a public document for use in another member country. Irish immigration guidance states that certain documents from outside the EEA or Switzerland must be apostilled — and that translations completed outside these regions may also need apostilling.

Everything you need to know about our ISO 9001 & ISO 17100
certified translation services in Ireland.
A certified translation is a full and accurate translation of your original document, accompanied by a signed certification statement confirming that it is a true translation of the original. In Ireland, official guidance says a certified translation should be signed and dated by a recognised person or organisation and include the signer’s name, signature, occupation, address, and telephone number.
TTC prepares certified translations for official use in Ireland to the high standards expected for immigration, CAO, university, legal, and other formal submissions. TTC publicly states Guaranteed Acceptance in Ireland, highlights ISO 17100 & ISO 9001 certification, and says it is recognised by Irish universities, immigration, and courts. TTC is also listed in the ATC and ELIA directories, and TTC’s own website states EUATC affiliation. Final acceptance still depends on the receiving authority’s rules, but your translation is prepared to meet official requirements as professionally and accurately as possible.
In many cases, yes. Irish immigration guidance says that if you submit a document that is not in English or Irish, it must be accompanied by a full translation. The translation should include confirmation that it is an accurate translation of the original, the date, the translator’s full name and signature, and the translator’s contact details. Immigration guidance also notes that submitting documents does not itself guarantee a visa outcome.
Yes. TTC translates school certificates, diplomas, transcripts, degree certificates, and other academic records for CAO and university applications in Ireland. CAO states that documents not printed in English must be accompanied by an official translation, and the 2026 CAO Handbook says qualifications not originally issued in English or Irish require a certified English translation by a professional translation service.
Yes. TTC can translate diplomas, transcripts, degree certificates, and related academic documents for qualification‑recognition purposes. QQI says NARIC Ireland provides advice on the academic recognition of foreign qualifications, but final recognition decisions for further education or employment are made by education institutions, professional recognition bodies, and employers.
TTC translates a wide range of official and personal documents, including passports, birth certificates, marriage certificates, diplomas, transcripts, court documents, contracts, bank letters, company documents, and immigration paperwork. TTC’s website describes coverage for immigration, legal, academic, and business use across Ireland and internationally.
Usually, no. In most cases, you can send TTC a clear scan or photo by WhatsApp or email for review, quoting, and processing. CAO’s 2026 Handbook says supporting documents should generally be A4 photocopies rather than originals, while Irish immigration guidance may require original documents to be submitted with the certified translation depending on the application type.
Sometimes. A certified translation is not the same thing as notarisation, legalisation, or an apostille. Irish immigration guidance says certain state‑issued documents from outside the EEA or Switzerland must be attested or apostilled, and translations completed outside the EEA or Switzerland may also need to be attested or apostilled as genuine.
TTC offers express certified translation delivery, including same‑day and 24‑hour turnaround options for urgent documents. TTC’s website says most certified orders can be delivered the same day or next day depending on the language pair and document type, and its translation‑pairs page also advertises fast 24‑hour turnaround. Once TTC reviews your document, the team can confirm the fastest available delivery option for your file
Pricing depends on the document type, language pair, word count, formatting, urgency, and whether you need digital delivery, hard copies, or specialist handling. TTC publicly advertises certified translations from €14.99 for selected small digital documents and states that urgent, printed, and specialist services are quoted separately. The quickest way to get an exact price is to send a clear scan or photo of your document for a quote.

In these Terms:
“Customer”, “client”, “you” means the person, business or organisation requesting or purchasing our services.
“TTC”, “we”, “us”, “our” means TT&C Translation Services Limited.
“Services” means translation, certified translation, interpreting, transcription, localisation, proofreading, revision, certification, notarisation support, apostille support, legalisation support, postage and any related services we agree to provide.
“Documents” means the files, scans, photographs, original documents, text, information or materials you provide to us.
“Deliverables” means the translated documents, certified translations, digital files, hard copies or other materials we prepare for you.
“Order” means a service request accepted by us after quotation, confirmation and payment where required.
We provide professional language services, including:
translation;
certified translation;
official document translation;
legal, immigration, academic, business and personal document translation;
revision and proofreading;
interpreting;
transcription;
localisation;
notarisation, apostille or legalisation support where agreed;
digital and hard-copy delivery where available.
The exact service, language pair, certification level, delivery format, turnaround time and price will be confirmed in your quote or order confirmation.
Quotes are based on the documents and information provided by you.
A quote may depend on:
language pair;
word count, page count or document type;
legibility and formatting;
certification requirements;
urgency;
notarisation, apostille, legalisation, postage or additional services;
whether handwritten, scanned, unclear or complex text is involved.
Unless stated otherwise, quotes are valid for 7 calendar days.
We may revise a quote if documents are incomplete, unclear, replaced, expanded or changed, or if additional requirements are requested after the quote is issued.
An order is accepted when:
we issue a quote or order confirmation;
you confirm that you wish to proceed;
we receive payment, where payment is required in advance; and
we have received the documents and instructions needed to start the work.
We may refuse, pause or cancel an order where:
the request is unlawful, fraudulent, abusive or misleading;
the document is illegible or incomplete;
the deadline is not achievable;
payment is not received;
the instructions are unclear;
the service requested is outside our scope;
we have a legal, ethical or professional reason not to proceed.
If we cancel an order after payment and no work has been performed, we will refund the amount paid. If partial work has already been performed, any refund will be handled fairly and in line with applicable consumer law.
You are responsible for providing:
clear and complete copies of all documents;
accurate instructions;
the correct target language;
the required certification level;
the intended use of the translation;
any deadline or authority-specific requirement;
correct spellings of names, addresses, places and institutions;
supporting ID, passport or official records where names or details must match exactly.
You confirm that you have the right to send us any documents you provide, including documents relating to family members, children, employees, clients or other third parties.
We are not responsible for delays, errors, rejection or additional cost caused by incomplete documents, unclear scans, incorrect customer instructions, missing information, source document errors or requirements not disclosed before work begins.
Certified translations often need to match names exactly as shown on passports, ID documents or official records.
If you need a name, date, place of birth, address, institution name or other detail to appear in a specific way, you must tell us before the translation starts and provide supporting evidence where needed.
If changes are requested after completion because instructions or supporting documents were not provided before work began, additional charges may apply.
Certified translations must be a true and accurate translation of the source document.
We may refuse to make a requested change where, in our professional judgment, the requested change would make the translation inaccurate, misleading, incomplete or inconsistent with the source document.
No refund will be due simply because we refuse a requested change that would compromise the accuracy or integrity of a certified translation.
Prices are confirmed in the quote or order confirmation.
Unless otherwise agreed, payment is required before work begins.
Prices may exclude, unless specifically included:
notarisation;
apostille;
legalisation;
certified hard copies;
postage or courier fees;
bank or payment provider charges;
urgent service fees;
additional revisions caused by customer changes;
additional formatting or layout work;
VAT or taxes, where applicable.
We may pause or withhold delivery until payment has been received in full.
Urgent services are available only where expressly agreed before the order is accepted.
Where we offer same-day or next-day services, the urgent service fee, deadline, cut-off time and expected delivery time will be confirmed before you place the order.
Urgent turnaround times depend on language pair, document length, document clarity, payment time, translator availability and certification requirements.
If documents, payment or instructions are received after the agreed cut-off time, the turnaround time may be extended.
Turnaround times begin only after:
payment has been received, where applicable;
all required documents have been received;
all necessary instructions have been confirmed;
we have accepted the order.
Turnaround times are estimates unless we expressly confirm a guaranteed deadline in writing.
We are not responsible for delays caused by customer delay, missing documents, unclear scans, third-party providers, postal or courier delays, public authorities, payment issues, force majeure events or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Completed translations may be delivered by email, secure link, WhatsApp, collection, post or courier, depending on the service agreed.
Digital delivery is usually considered complete when the translation is sent to the email address, WhatsApp number or delivery method provided by you.
Where postal or courier delivery is requested, delivery times depend on the postal or courier provider. Additional fees may apply for hard copies, postage, tracked delivery or courier services.
You must check completed translations promptly after delivery and notify us of any issue as soon as possible.
If you are a consumer ordering online, by phone, WhatsApp or email, you may have a legal right to cancel the service contract within 14 days, subject to legal exceptions.
Translation services are often customised and may be requested urgently. If you ask us to begin work before the 14-day cancellation period expires, you acknowledge that:
we may begin providing the service immediately;
if the service is fully completed before you cancel, you may lose the right to cancel;
if the service is partly completed before you cancel, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for the work already performed;
customised or personalised services may be subject to cancellation exceptions.
For urgent, same-day, next-day or deadline-sensitive work, by confirming the order and asking us to proceed, you expressly request that we start work before the end of any cooling-off period.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.
To cancel where cancellation rights apply, you may email us at [email protected] using the wording below:

You do not have to use this form, but you must clearly tell us that you wish to cancel.
Refunds are assessed according to the stage of the order.
Before work begins, a refund may be available.
After work has begun, we may deduct a fair and proportionate amount for work already performed.
After the translation has been completed and delivered, refunds are not normally available unless there is a fault with the service that we cannot reasonably correct.
If there is an issue with the translation, certification or delivery, you should contact us as soon as possible so we can review and resolve the matter.
We aim to provide accurate and professional translations.
If you believe there is an error in a translation, you must notify us promptly and provide clear details of the issue.
Where an error is our responsibility, we will correct it free of charge within a reasonable time.
Free corrections do not include:
changes to the original document after the order;
new documents or extra text;
style preferences not provided before work began;
name spellings not supported by documents provided before work began;
changes required because the wrong service level was ordered;
changes caused by unclear, incomplete or illegible source documents;
changes caused by customer-submitted errors.
Unless otherwise agreed, correction requests should be made within 30 days of delivery.
We prepare certified translations professionally and in a format commonly required for official use in Ireland.
However, different authorities, embassies, courts, universities, immigration bodies, employers, foreign institutions or government departments may have their own requirements.
You are responsible for checking the exact requirements of the receiving authority before ordering, especially where notarisation, apostille, sworn translation, hard copy delivery, translator credentials or specific wording is required.
If an Irish authority rejects a translation due to an error or certification issue caused by us, we will review the matter and, where appropriate, correct or reissue the translation free of charge.
We are not responsible for rejection caused by:
requirements not disclosed before the order;
changes in authority rules;
the authority requiring notarisation, apostille or a different certification level;
incorrect or incomplete customer instructions;
source document issues;
customer-submitted errors;
decisions unrelated to translation accuracy.
We do not provide immigration, legal, tax, academic admission or government application advice unless expressly agreed in writing.
Where we advertise a Best Price Guarantee, it applies only to genuine, like-for-like written quotes from another Irish translation provider.
To qualify, the competing quote must normally match:
the same document;
the same language pair;
the same certification level;
the same turnaround time;
the same delivery method;
the same additional services;
the same customer requirements.
The competing quote must be provided before the order is placed and must be current, genuine and verifiable.
The guarantee does not apply to unclear, expired, bundled, promotional, overseas, non-comparable, automated, machine translation-only or informal quotes.
We reserve the right to refuse a price-match request where the quote is not genuinely comparable.
We treat customer documents and communications as confidential.
We may share documents only with people or providers who need access to provide the service, such as translators, proofreaders, project managers, certification providers, IT providers, payment providers, postal/courier providers or professional advisers.
We may disclose information where required by law, regulation, court order or lawful request.
We may use employees, freelance translators, revisers, proofreaders, project managers, notaries, legalisation providers, postal/courier providers or other subcontractors to provide all or part of the service.
We remain responsible to you for the service we agree to provide, subject to these Terms.

We may update, suspend or remove parts of the website at any time.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
For consumers, these Terms do not affect your statutory rights.
For business customers, subject to applicable law, our total liability for a service shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, application refusal, immigration refusal, court outcome, academic decision, authority decision or third-party rejection, except where the law does not allow such limitation.
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, including power outages, internet failures, cyber incidents, illness, strikes, public transport disruption, postal or courier disruption, third-party platform failure, natural events, government action or other unexpected circumstances.
Where such an event occurs, we will try to communicate with you and complete the service as soon as reasonably possible.

We may process quote details, order details, payment status, invoice details, billing information, transaction references and accounting records.
We do not intentionally store full payment card details on our website. Where payment is made through a third-party payment provider, bank or payment platform, that provider may process payment data under its own terms and privacy policy.

We use your contact details to send quotes, payment instructions, questions, order updates, delivery confirmations, completed translations and support messages.

If you ask us to begin work before the 14-day cancellation period expires, you acknowledge that:
we may begin providing the service immediately;
if the service is fully completed before you cancel, you may lose the right to cancel;
if the service is partly completed before you cancel, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for the work already performed;
customised or personalised services may be subject to cancellation exceptions.

Free corrections do not include:
changes to the original document after the order;
new documents or extra text;
style preferences not provided before work began;
name spellings not supported by documents provided before work began;
changes required because the wrong service level was ordered;
changes caused by unclear, incomplete or illegible source documents;
changes caused by customer-submitted errors.
We are not responsible for rejection caused by:
requirements not disclosed before the order;
changes in authority rules;
the authority requiring notarisation, apostille or a different certification level;
incorrect or incomplete customer instructions;
source document issues;
customer-submitted errors;
decisions unrelated to translation accuracy.
We do not provide immigration, legal, tax, academic admission or government application advice unless expressly agreed in writing.
Where we advertise a Best Price Guarantee, it applies only to genuine, like-for-like written quotes from another Irish translation provider.
To qualify, the competing quote must normally match:
the same document;
the same language pair;
the same certification level;
the same turnaround time;
the same delivery method;
the same additional services;
the same customer requirements.
